La Playa in March

Hi there

I will coming over from London in March and have found a good deal for the La Playa.

I will be there from the 7th March - is this is a very busy time in Naples ? I also understand the hotel is a club for locals which may add to the number of people.

Basically I do not like very busy loud pool areas so I need to know whether to look elsewhere.

My travel agent also found me a good deal for the Marco Island Mariott so that could be an option.

Many thanks in advance

There will still be quite a few people there who go to Naples for the Winter, but most should have returned to their Northern homes.

Have been to both of your possibilities and love both. However, the Mariott is more family friendly so it%26#39;s less likely to provide the pool atmosphere that you want. We take our kids with us to the Mariott but not La Playa. La Playa is a fabulous place to stay. Honestly, I don%26#39;t understand the ';club for locals'; comment. The bar is very small (seating at the bar and maybe 4 small tables), it%26#39;s not a ';club'; atmosphere, although they do have live music sometimes. They do consider themselves to be a golf resort, but the golf course is off-site not right at the hotel. However, it since it is a very nice hotel and has a highly rated restaurant I know that it is a destination even for people who actually live in Florida. I would definitely stick with La Playa. The beach is better, it%26#39;s smaller and more intimate than the Mariott. I%26#39;ve stayed there about 4 times and don%26#39;t remember seeing a lot of children. It%26#39;s not a destination for the crazy college spring break crowd, because it%26#39;s not the right atmosphere. Also, their spa is great. March is still a busy month in the area. Most of the ';snowbirds'; stay until Easter and then head to their northern homes. There are some nice restaurants along Gulf Shore drive and in Downtown Naples, if you want to be safe, make reservations. Often, though, we just plan to wait (sometimes up to an hour) and have drinks or walk through shops while we%26#39;re waiting for our table. Have fun -- LOVE that area!

Thanks ever so much for your detailed response.

You have made my mind up - La Playa it is !

Thanks again

We too will be at LaPlaya at the beginning of March. We will stay in the Bay Tower..across the street from the main building, but in a ';Coastal View'; room. I am hoping that this ';across the street'; building isn%26#39;t too noisy, meaning the noise coming from the street itself. Any comments on this room location? From what I can tell, it is a small street. We really want to stay at this resort, having read nice things about it. And, it will certainly be better weather than here in Ohio!
