Hurricane damage? South Seas Resort?

I am planning a trip in August to Captiva Island and am thinking about staying at South Seas. Has anyone used or heard anything about the kids club? My son will be 5 then so I am curious if I should use it or not. What kind of shape is the island in since the hurricane? Will it even be worth going? Since we have never been, what kind of activities are there to do for adults and kids? How many days would be good? Thank you!

Hurricane damage? South Seas Resort?

South Seas Resort is still being rebuilt and won%26#39;t being it%26#39;s phased re-opening until March. Also, the property has just been sold to a different company, so that may, or may not, impact dates. The projected date for completion of all facilities is currently July this year. Unfortunately, South Seas has not yet hit a single target date. The resort is so revamped, I%26#39;m not sure any previous experience with kids club (there will be one and expanded from what I%26#39;ve read) and facilities will apply. South Seas will be looking better than before when they%26#39;re done.

The island has lost its canopy and looks very different. Everything except South Seas is open, but you%26#39;ll still see some damage. The long closing of South Seas has impacted a lot of shops, but the restaurants seem to be doing OK. The beaches were fully renourished late 2005 and are once again wide.

South Seas is the largest resort on the two islands and is expanding all of it%26#39;s resort facilities while going through this ambitious restoration. Even many of the restaurants are changing menus and names. It seems to be heading upscale in all aspects.
