Indoor family activity??

We are in the area and with the COLD weather are looking for some INDOOR entertainment. Have a 2-year-old who has been sick, so we want to take her someplace that would be interesting but not too hands-on (so she doesn%26#39;t get any other kids sick). An aquarium or similar would be ideal. Any ideas? We have all day Monday and all day Tuesday. THANKS!

Indoor family activity??

If you have a car and don%26#39;t mind about an hour drive, the ';Florida Aquarium'; in Tampa is indoors and VERY NICE.

Indoor family activity??

Orlando is all about theme parks. The only indoor activity I can think of is Disney Quest, which is definitely not geared towards a 2-year-old. Seaworld does have many indoor exhibits, which include an aquarium, penguins and polar bears (but it%26#39;s cold in there). Unfortunately, if you%26#39;re 2-year-old isn%26#39;t feeling well, you%26#39;re probably not going to have an easy time of it dragging her around a theme park (or anywhere else for that matter). Downtown Disney has some nice areas for little kids - the Lego Store (and play area) and Mr. Potato Head store, but anywhere you go you%26#39;re going to be around other kids. Truthfully, in my opinion, you%26#39;d be better off hanging out in the hotel, ordering a pay-per-view movie and getting your little one better.

Regarding previous post about Tampa aquarium, I have been there, it is very nice, but the ride is between 1 1/2 and 2 hours from Tampa - certainly not 1 hour.

Oops, I meant from Orlando.

Yes probably closer to 1 1/2 hours if you have never been to the aquarium. It%26#39;s almost exactly 70 miles from Orlando (tourist areas) to the parking lot at the Florida Aquarium with 98% of the driving on the I-4 expressway. It%26#39;s an easy drive and it%26#39;s the only ';indoor'; aquarium you%26#39;ll find in the central Florida area.

You may also like the Orlando science musuem (downtown area), the model train musuem (International drive), The McDonalds on the corner of I-drive and Sand Lake Road (the worldest largest McDonalds play area, all enclosed) and there is an indoor ';fluorescent, glow in the dark'; miniature golf course in the shopping center at the far north end of I-Drive if you think your 2 year old is up to that. There is also a movie theater in the same mall that you can catch a movie at (Curious George would probaly work for a 2 year old).

Thanks for your replies. Our daughter is on the upswing and I suspect she%26#39;ll want to do something tomorrow. She%26#39;s bored of being sick -- been telling me she%26#39;s ';ready to go,'; so I think she%26#39;s ready to look at something other than Barney and Dora!! But, I%26#39;m guessing that she won%26#39;t be 100 percent, so a theme park is out. Dr. says she%26#39;s not contagious, but I still would rather keep her clear of other kids (especially those on vacation!). I should clarify -- we%26#39;re in Daytona, and we%26#39;d consider driving a couple of hours from here and would also stay the night elsewhere if necessary.

Thanks again!

brindles01, The Orlando Science Center www.osc.org has areas geared toward children. You said you wouldn%26#39;t mind driving two activities that your daughter would probably love would be either Lion Country Safari in Loxahatchee, Fl www.lioncountrysafari.com or Wannado City in Ft Lauderdale www.wannadocity.com Both of these are located about 3 hours south of Daytona and Wannado City would involve other children. It is very hard to find indoor 2 year old activities that are not group involved, hope you are able to find something.
