Trolly Bus Tour

Just got back from Naples and took the trolley. I think it cost $18.00 ( there are discount coupons in some ';tourist publications.%26#39; It goes to about 18 stops where you can get on and off as much as you want. I must say, however, that some of the stops are not noteworthy, just shopping malls or places like the Chamber of Commerce building. We got on at a Shopping Mall in front of Saks Department store, rode about 7 stops, then the trolley stops at the trolly ';depot'; ( a gift store) for a 10 minute bathroom/shopping break. We noticed that the next stop (Tin City, a shop and restauarant complex) was within a block, so we chose to stay longer at the depot and walked down to Tin City for lunch ( the Pier Restaurant- an adequate but not memorable seafood salad plate), shopped a little and them walked back up to the depot and caught the next trolley which thewn went about 8 more stops.

I would say it is a nice way to get the ';lay off the land'; in Naples. You see nice scenery- Naples is a spectacularly beautiful town- and are told a little history. Naples is not ';awash %26#39; in tourist attractions- mostly a lovely place to sun, shop, golf and dine. All told we were on the tour from 9:30 in the morning until 3 in the afternoon and found it pleasant as an introduction.

I might suggest that you plan your lunch stop for an area called (I think) Venetian Village or 5th Street They appeared to have a much better selection of upscale restaurants than Tin City, which is a little lacking in that department.

Hope you enjoy your stay- we found shopping and dining to be first rate ( Tropical Reef Grill was our favorite dining ';find.'; We don%26#39;t golf, but it appeared this is also very good in Naples.
