Spring Break

Need some advice from the locals. How early in 2006 do the Spring Breakers start showing up? Do ya%26#39;ll recommend any bars, restaurants, etc. to go to in order to ';steer clear'; of the college crowd?

Spring Break

I am going to spring break March 3-8 with 8 girls. I think FSU%26#39;s spring break is on the early side. The spring breakers you will encounter will most likely be at least 21 if not most 22 nearing 23. . We are going to key west to chill. While things will likely get a little crazy you wont have to deal with freshman. That is why we are going to key west, we don鈥檛 want to deal with them either. Most of the kids know how to handle themsevles.

Anything super expensive is not going to be places were we can go. To be honest, it is not because we couldn%26#39;t afford it. It is more like cost benefit analysis. 2 Things of Pirate Punch at Capt Tony鈥檚 or a side salad at Louie鈥檚 Backyard. For a college student, it鈥檚 an obvious choice. so Alice%26#39;s, seven fish, blue heaven for dinner, pieses, and places of similar nature just dont make sense for us.

Also, we will be out late, so things like breakfast spots, shopping, and touristy stuff will mostly likely be free until at least noon. A lot of kids go and lie out on the minimal beaches or by the pool dotted by the occasional booze cruise. So you could luck out and get a lot more to yourself than you would expect. For example we are not riding either of the trolleys.

I would steer clear of hotels though. Most cottage and condo owners won鈥檛 let us stay there. Basically our only choice is a hotel.

now for my soap box, I think the best thing to remember is we want to have fun and so do you. I would exercise as much patience as possible. It is quite frustrating when other people鈥檚 parents (i.e. older adults) treat us like their kids. Especially since many of us our now on our own. You are very smart to not even want to put yourself in that position. I respect that you asked this question.

I am off my soap box now so I will say, maybe not take the Fury sunset sails. It seems to be the more fun party boat and has been recommended to me as the ';spring break'; boat. We are going and drinking as much margaritas as possible. I hear it can get rowdy.

I hope you have a wonderful time.

Spring Break

Seminolegirl,

Darling, I am only 28 yrs old. You make it sound like I am a geriatric. I put in a good 7 yrs of college (undergrad and grad) and have done 7 yrs worth of spring breaking. Heck I was down in KW 3 years ago for Clemson spring break.

When we were down there last, they were filming an episode of Girls Gone Wild at Rick%26#39;s/Dirty Harry%26#39;s. Is that your crowd? It was cool to hang out there (for 10 minutes), but it was mostly guys looking for naked chicks (Yankees and guidos). Trust me, I%26#39;ve seen things down on Duval that only happen when the spring breakers arrive.

The reason I asked about Spring break is to avoid the bars/clubs that charge a cover only during Spring Break or offer $10 all you can drink specials only to Spring breakers. I plan on staying at an exclusive B%26amp;B, spending money of good dinners, and hanging out until 3am every night!

I am glad you had a fantastic time previously.I can let you know about the places doing the cover charge only for spring breakers a friend of ours is a promoter, he will be doing some events. I will give you the heads up when I have more info.

Most of the people that have asked this question were middle aged people.I was trying to be helpful, and maybe someone might just not do something to ruin anyone%26#39;s vacation. I can see how you might be offened to references that you are older. In fact my boyfriend is older than you. I know he would freak if it happened to him.

I do not plan on being apart of any girls gone wild events. Those girls are trashy. They are just starved of attention, I think it is pathetic.

BTW clemson got jipped this year at both the miami and boston college games. Hell, if we are down there at the same time we should raise a glass together to the Bowdens. Also, a hatred for stever spurrier. or why not a glass for both? :)

I do hope that me letting you know where we wont be eating will help though, and which booze cruise we are taking. There is actually a romantic one with really good wine. I think PJK knows more about that. I think it is called the danger charter boats.

BTW, none of us are interested in any yankee boys. Guidos, now that is just crossing the line to suggest. We are now even.

Thanks for the heads up. I will be down there with my wife, so I doubt I will be going to the clubs. I%26#39;ve been in KW more times than I can count on both hands, so I have a pretty good handle on the restaurants and activities. I will be fishing most of the time, and we are always up for trying new restaurants. I%26#39;d like to take a sunset cruise, probably on the Western Union or another schooner. I do appreciate your advice.

BTW, the girls gone wild stuff was totally impromptu...had no clue they were down there until one of our buddy%26#39;s G/F entered and won some $$$. I doubt they are still doing that at Rick%26#39;s/Dirty Harry%26#39;s, but there must have been 100%26#39;s of guys there that night.

Whats so bad about yankee boys???

Wondered this one myself.

The Danger Charter boats, there are two, run a Wind %26amp; Wine sunset sail that sounds very nice with some better wines and snacks. (I thought this was a dinner cruise but it isn%26#39;t). If I were you I would go out on one of the bigger cats for a sunset sail to see what they are like (see the Caribbean spirit), and just check into the Danger Charters in case you want to do another some time during your stay.

Pjk

Yankees and Southerners don%26#39;t mix...especially when alcohol is involved. But honestly I don%26#39;t want to go there...that was not the intentions of this thread.

Seminolegirl,

Hey, you said you know a promoter down that ways. What kind of parties/specials are you hearing about? I wouldn%26#39;t mind catching a $10 all you can drink promo at one of the bars or clubs EARLIER in the night. I remember Rick%26#39;s/Durrty Harry%26#39;s and Crabby Bill%26#39;s had good all inclusive specials when I was down there for Spring break.
