Feb. in Orlando

Any comments on visiting Disney the first week of Febuary? Is it cold enough for a jacket... how are the lines?

I went to their web site and found several hotels sold out, which i thought was odd, seeing it%26#39;s FEBUARY !!

Any suggestions/comments?

Feb. in Orlando

We were there last year the second week in Feb. During the day we wore shorts with a light jacket that we took off in the afternoon. But if you%26#39;re staying for a later parade or fireworks, it will get very chilly. We froze out in the parking lot waiting for our shuttle, this was after we bought Disney souvenier jackets to wear over our sweatshirts and we even had on long pants. So come prepared for chilly weather, but it might not be that bad.

Their online room allotments seem to change on a daily basis. Last year, I was trying to get into the Beach Club during spring break. One day, there would be availability, the next day none, then the day after there would be rooms. I don%26#39;t know if they try to keep a balance between what%26#39;s available over the phone vs. what you can book online, or what they%26#39;re doing. I%26#39;ve even seen Florida resident specials that you could book online one day, then the next day it%26#39;s by phone only, then they go back to booking online. You just have to keep your eyes open. There have been a lot of large conventions in town since the holidays, and I think that trend will continue for the next month or so. Meeting planners have been burned by the hurricanes one too many times, so they%26#39;re not taking the risk of booking later in the year. I have a feeling there will be a lot of really good bargains come August through September, if people are willing to book last minute.

Hello nakalamicnews,

The average Feburary temperatures are high 73 with nighttime temperatures in the 50%26#39;s so sweatshirts and long pants are necessary.

I%26#39;m surprised that there are some resorts booked for the first week of February as generally the crowds don%26#39;t arrive until the 2nd week of Feburary and then peak during Presidents week. You don%26#39;t want to be in Disney during President%26#39;s week!

I%26#39;ve read many times that Disney is crowded during Pres week but what about Universal? Is it just as bad for crowds that week?

When it%26#39;s a crowded time (around holidays, summer, etc.) the entire area is crowded. There will be fewer hotels available, restaurants will be busy, and all the theme parks will be crowded. It%26#39;s not restricted to just one park, or set of parks, unless there is some special event going on at just that park (for example, Universal tends to be very crowded when it%26#39;s Halloween Horror Nights season, when October is typically a less busy time elsewhere).

I have been to orlando in each week in february. Presidents week was very busy.

We have just got back from 2 weeks starting 28th jan and the first week was fairly quiet and the lines had only 10/15 min wait max, but last week I was quite surprised at how busy the parks were and the lines average was probably 30 mins and upto 60 mins for some rides.

As we are from the UK the weather is great for us and we wear shorts almost every day but as everyone says the night time can get chilly so be prepared for watching late shows and parades.

Good luck.
