Nightlife?

We are a group of 6 twenty-something girls heading to Florida in July. We are planning a week in Orlando for the theme parks etc then a week elsewhere for a bit of beach/nightlife. Can you recommend anywhere? We looked at Daytona Beach but any other places?

Nightlife?

Daytona are you kidding?

All the night life is in Miami Beach and South Beach. Although July is not the month to come to Florida, especially Orlando, which is inland and super hot.If you are coming in July you want to be near the ocean.

Nightlife?

sim, does this mean there is no nightlife at all in Daytona? Is miami rainier because it is further south? I know there is a lot of rain everywhere in Florida at that time of year but we have to go in July as it is School Holidays and one of my friends is a teacher

hey, shame you aren%26#39;t over there in March....6 guys are heading over from the UK, for a week!

Bullrider - where are you planning on going? I%26#39;m totally confused, everyone is telling me different things! I%26#39;m assuming you guys will be looking for some nightlife too?

Cancunfan, as far as rain is concern, it rains briefly for about twenty minutes a day in most summer months, nothing that would interfare with any outdoor activity. Most often it does not rain on the beaches as the wind off the ocean pushes the clouds inland. So, no it does not rain more, actually it rains less.

As far as night life, Miami Beach is young, hip, trendy and popular with movie stars.

Daytona is low rent, biker friendly.

Consider Tampa - it%26#39;s only an hour from Orlando. Besides, South Beach is nothing but lowlifes trying to pretend they are somebody. Tampa is way more fun %26amp; real and there are some really handsome Italian men there! The beaches in Clearwater %26amp; St. Pete are georgous too. Have fun.

Cheers!

If you go to Tampa (straight shot from Orlando by taking I-4 West), then I would check out Ybor City. One of the things to do in Tampa on Saturdays is to start at Channelside or Hyde Park for a few drinks, then head on out to the clubs in Ybor (I prefer Lotus because of the dress), then after the clubs close and kick everyone out go to Hard Rock Casino until dawn drinking.

Tampa is near beaches, but it isn%26#39;t a beach town. You%26#39;ll have to cross over to Clearwater and St. Pete for that.

The rains in Florida are a little longer than 20 minutes. It%26#39;s more like an hour or two each day. But most of the day is Sunny and hot. Then out of nowhere dark clouds show up around 3pm and let out a bunch of water. Then everything is usually clear by sunset.

Have fun!

In July, the east coast beaches are preferred because of better onshore breezes. First weekend in July, Daytona will be packed and crazy; big NASCAR race on July 1. After that it will be fine.

I like the beaches at Cocoa Beach/Melbourne Beach better (due east of Orlando), but the night life would be a bit tame for hotties your age. Daytona has a lot of nightlife close together (there are good reasons why it is one of the favorite spring-break destinations for the college crowd). I know of at least a dozen nightclubs in Daytona with live bands. It is a fun place.

I recommend against staying at hotels on Disney or Universal Studios property. There are many hotels in Lake Buena Vista and west Kissimmee (for Disney World) that are just as nice, much fewer $$, more convenient and have free shuttles to the parks. There is active, popular night life at 芒聙聹Downtown Disney芒聙聺 (next to but not in the parks), Universal Studios 芒聙聹City Walk芒聙聺 (likewise) and the Church Street Station area of downtown Orlando.

When you tire of giving Disney and Universal all your $$, I suggest you head east on I-4 (actually, north) to Wekiwa Springs State Park, near Apopka, just north of Orlando, and spend a half day there. You can swim in crystal-clear, fresh water (72 degrees F year round) and see a bit of the Florida that we natives love. Then go on up I-4 to Daytona.

If you really want up-scale, I still wouldn芒聙聶t go down to SoBeach; head for the West Palm Beach area instead. A lot of good night-life and more real class.

Whichever you choose, remember to wear a lot of sunscreen, even at the parks. The Florida sun can be brutal to fair, Scottish skin in July; probably even more so than Cancun.

Have fun!

Hey cancunfan, sorry to give you another suggestion, but i have always had a GREAT time in Fort Lauderdale, stay on the beach for all the strip action(Marriott beach Place Towers), or downtown(a mile from the beach) off Las Olas(Riverfront Hotel) for all the downtown action. Its a great party town, beautiful beaches, people and atmosphere, without all the hype. Cabs and Water Taxis take you everywhere.

South Florida all the way! I live in South Florida and it is such a dynamic area. It has three major metropolitan areas all within a 90 minute drive.

Fort Lauderdale is an excellent choice because there are so many different clubs and things to do AND you are only 1/2 hour from South Beach. South Beach is the club capitol of Florida and it is where the beautiful, rich and famous party alongside the wannabees.

As for rain, it%26#39;s only water! During the day you can hit Sawgrass Mills Mall (www.sawgrassmillsmall.com) for a HUGE shopping experience, rain or shine. The Fort Lauderdale and Miami beaches are very hip and beautiful.

Mizner Park (www.miznerpark.org) in Boca Raton is very nice and worth a stroll through its boutiques and restaurants. If you go, be sure to check out the bathroom at the Sloan%26#39;s Ice Cream Shop (you%26#39;ll know what I mean when you see it!). If your lucky, you can catch a great concert at outdoor pavillion at Mizner Park.

West Palm Beach and its ';CityPlace'; (www.cityplace.com) are less than an hour from Fort Lauderdale as well. There is a great Thursday night thing in downtown West Palm Beach called ';Clematis by Night'; (www.clematisbynight.net). Be sure to cruise A1A in Palm Beach and check out the oceanfront mansions that we can only dream about owning!

No matter what your choice, have alot of fun and be sure to take alot of pictures! Enjoy!
