Hi, Can anyone tell me why all the pools have covered lanai%26#39;s. Also where is a good location in naples to look for a villa for vacation first two weeks of may?
Why are pools enclosed in Naples??
Pools in homes in Naples have to be enclosed with a fence or lanai by law for safety reasons - to keep children from drowning. Also, we have a lot of bugs, especially mosquitos here. Resorts on the beach usually don%26#39;t have enclosures, the breeze helps keep the bugs away.
Villas, hmm...
If you just want an apartment style with a kitchen, you might try a timeshare on Vanderbilt Beach right on the Gulf - there are a lot of rentals, like the Vanderbilt Beach and Harbour Club. Just make sure you unit overlooks the water if that is what you want. Some of the buildings are on the other side of the street so be careful about what you book.
Also, the Best Western Naples Inn and Suites offers apartments that are reasonable, but are not on the beach. They have a lovely landscaped property with pool though (and no screen enclosure).
I don%26#39;t know of any villa type properties but the real estate agents who handle rental properties would be a good place to try. Good luck! Kitty

Wiggins Bay Condos..has it all..Tennis,
gym...boat to beach...look on internet
under Princeton Place or Bermuda Cove...
off season...$500 a week could do it...
Plenty of $$$ left for all the great restaurants!!

The law requires all pools to have fencing of some sort, but while fences are ubiquitous, lanais are almost unknown here in north Florida. So I originally thought that the propensity of lanais in Naples had much more to do with bugs than safety. But having spent quite a bit of time there, I don%26#39;t find bugs to be any more of a problem in Naples than in Jacksonville.
So now I%26#39;ve concluded that people must simply like the way they look.....
