I%26#39;m planning on visiting Tampa and wondered what was the best time of year to go? when is the hurricane season?.

The BEST time is mid-April to beginning of May, mostly dry weather, temps in the low 80%26#39;s day, low 60%26#39;s night, after Easter it is one of the slowest times of the year, and the water on the beaches is just warming up(low 70%26#39;s)...I also enjoy November and December, although it is a bit cooler, but still very nice.

Hurricane Season is June 30th to November 30th.

If you come between November 30th and December 30th you can take a car through some Temple Terrace neighborhoods at night (particularly between 46th and 50th East-West wise, and between Busch and Fowler North-South wise). Those neighbors go absolutely bonkers with their Christmas light displays.

One whole block of neighbors on one street strung lights on the powerlines overhanging the street so it looks like you%26#39;re going through some lighted Xmas tunnel. They%26#39;ve got Xmas music playing and now they%26#39;ve got these huge blow-up Xmas things.

I think there%26#39;s something in the water there. They do similar stuff for halloween. I%26#39;ve never seen blow-up halloween decorations before. I mean these things are like 10 feet tall and during the day they lay flat. At night they turn on some fan and light and BAM, instant decorations.

My favorite times of year in FLA are April-May and October-December.

Sounds crazy, but my FAVOURITE time of the year is summer May to October (Yup, smack dab in the middle of hurricane season). The water is like a bath, very hot and being out on the water is the best place! Summer is less crowded as the snowbirds are up north. Good luck!
