We will be there this June for 7 days...when should I begin flight shopping? We are flying out of St. Louis to Ft. Myers...Thanks!!

When is the best time to book flight???Flights are heavily book for weekend travel to RSW - Ft Myers International airport. If you%26#39;re flying into Tampa and driving down, you%26#39;ll get more options and maybe better prices. I%26#39;d look now and start deciding what%26#39;s best.
When is the best time to book flight???You should be able to get cheap flights in June. I would try to fly into Ft Myers. I don%26#39;t agree with all the negatives the other posts are saying that it is so busy and expensive. It depends where you are flying from mostly. We fly from NY and get good prices, same as Tampa unless it%26#39;s a prime time like President%26#39;s week in Feb. I would start looking now and book anything you find under $250. You should have decent prices out of St Louis but I would shop around and check Southwest. I just checked them for you with dates of June 2-9 and it was $196 per ticket! THat is really good.
Those flights make one stop in Orlando. Southwest has only posted schedules up to June 9th so you may need to check back.
I live outside of St. Louis and our first choce is to always fly directly into RSW, Ft. Myers. I booked flights at various times, 3 weeks before. I would keep an eye on Southwest which flys there since last fall....yeah I was happy about that.
There has been a cheap airline for over a year flying STL to RSW for a great price...darn I can not think of it. As little as 69.00 each way. The normal average I believe is around $200.00.
I will say that I have not traveled since the opening this fall but have found it prior to be VERY, Very easy and basic flying American Airlines....a true no brainer! We have use passes the last 10 summers flying with them. Some times I have to go into Tampa to use a pass last minute, and drive down which is not bad....but why drive all that way when you can be only one hour from the island tops.
Friends say the cheap airline can be confusing to get luggage...so listen when they announce. My sister in law used for a total of $139.00 round trip and said it was fine!
Hope this helps! Good Luck
I think I know the cheap airline the above writer was talking about. Check out www.usa3000.com. We went to Sanibel in 2004 and our bill flying from Pittsburgh to Fort Myers for a family of 4 was only $549.00. we also went this past summer as a family and paid only 649.00 for all 4 of us. Do check it out. I know prices have gone up since Katrina, but it%26#39;s worth a try. We%26#39;ve saved literally hundreds of dollars and have been very satisfied with the airline. Good luck!
If it%26#39;s anything like around Cincinnati I%26#39;d be looking mid-April. We%26#39;re flying down Feb 23rd. Mid-January the ticks started going up %26amp; have not come down. Was lucky enough to get ticks on USA3000 before they went up. Their tickets do go up %26amp; down but have not gone below what I booked for. The rest have only gone up. We ALWAYS fly into RSW. Never any problems.
Yes, it is USA3000....thank you!
It%26#39;s funny, I book different times of the day for my husband he travels quite a bit for work.
Prices I think can be cheaper later at night because the business travelers usually do not book late night.
Thanks everyone...I will keep my eyes open for flights...
I already checked USA3000. Seems as if they do not fly on Saturday :(
Thanks again!!!
Jen
ps.
Is anyone notices a good deal, would you mind letting me know???
A pretty neat airline fare search tool is:
www.mobissimo.com
They will search all airlines and give you the best fares available at time of request. Even better than orbitz / expedia / travelocity in my opinion because they are not in the business of booking your flights, but of steering you to the best prices.
This tool has confirmed for me that the best deal is usually going to be found at the airline website. For example, flights I booked yesterday (after checking on mobissimo)were $344.50 per person directly from Spirit. Some of the other sites (Cheaptickets, Expedia etc.)were offering the exact same flights but for $30 to $50 more.
Actually, it was ';cheapseats'; and ';onetravel'; that were much higher than the airline website for the very same flights. Wanted to correct this because expedia and cheaptickets were within $10 of the airline webfares and I don%26#39;t want to mislead anyonee.
