i'm in desperate need of good orlando hotel advice!

hi everyone,

i am planning on taking a trip to universal studios and disney world with my boyfriend in june. he has never been to either park and i want him to have a good experience. i have spent the past week reading and rereading hotel reviews on all kinds of websites, and just when i think ive found a keeper, its either too expensive, or i read a horrifying review. if anyone can give me good advice, please help! here is an outline of what i am looking for:

very clean rooms (a MUST, top priority)

close to either park (universal or WDW)

price range of around $100 a night (i could go with a little over, but i could REALLY go with alot under)

we%26#39;re not too concerned with things like whether or not the hotel has a pool, free breakfast, etc.

and it would also be nice if maybe the hotel offers a fridge and microwave (once again cleanliness is a huge priority here being that i am officially neurotic :) )

anyway, anything anyone can post would be really appreciated! thanks a bunch!

$100 is a good jumping off point for clean, decent places in Orlando. I wouldn%26#39;t try going too far below that price. I have stayed at Courtyard by Marriott in Central Florida and never had a problem. When I have to travel any where in Florida I prefer the Courtyard. Check out the one in Lake Buena Vista.

I would avoid the Disney Properties that are less than $160. The All Star, All Sports and Disney Pop Century? Truly awful especially if you do not have kids. Basic Rule

of thumb is if it is a Disney property and less than, say, $170 don%26#39;t stay there. The Red Roof Inn would be better because it is cheaper and most people know what to expect at the Red Roof Inn.

Hi Orlandonewbie,

Maybe you can go to bookit.com, search for sunlake resort. It%26#39;s a new resort(built in 2003)with in-room jacuzzi and kitchen. 2 miles from WDW.

We have stayed at the Holiday Inn Nikki Bird in Kissimmee it is one of the closest hotels to Disney without being a Disney property. i

In the rooms there is a fridge/microwave/coffee macine.

The Rosen Plaza is the best hotel I have ever stayed at in Orlando, in fact I have stayed there several times and have never paid more than $100 a night as a walk in. However if you book in advance you may have to pay more and it might then be over your budget.

hi orlandoewebie,

i have stayed at quality inn on international drive which was nice. but over christmas we stayed at homewood suites which was even beteer and quite, but i think that it is over the $100, why not try embassy suites it might be cheaper. i have not stayed but i want to latter on this year. if you want to stay on i-drive then decide where you want to stay i.e. if you want quite and peaceful than look at the hotels from pointe orlando down to wyndham but if you like it noisey than down towards wet and wild. than look for a hotel at each end. i liked it at homewood suites so the next time i come i am going to look at the top of i-drive.

p.s the hotels to provide hotel transfer to the attractons.

thanks pam.

You apparently double-posted for some reason, so I will too.

I%26#39;ve stayed at many of the motels along Hwy 192 in Kissimmee, and for the most part, the cleanliness was subject to whomever was cleaning the room. Even the most expensive places have had some bad experiences with unclean rooms sometime or another.

For what it%26#39;s worth, the last two trips I%26#39;ve gone to the area, we stayed at the Super 8 Lakeside on Hwy 192 in Kissimmee. Each room here has a mini-fridge and microwave oven. We found the rooms here no less clean than anywhere else we%26#39;ve stayed, but since you want the fridge/microwave, I know for sure this place has them in the rooms. It is also operated by Americans.

Now, this may be a little under the scale you are looking for, but since we never go in June, I don%26#39;t know how to compare the prices. I don%26#39;t think any of the Disney resort rooms you could get for $100 have a fridge/microwave in the room, as this is typically for the higher-priced resorts. I have no experience with staying near Universal Studios.

Just one gals input.

You might also want to consider a condo rental in one of the resort type places near Disney. Many are available in your price range and the complexes have pools.

Try owner direct rentals thru the two biggest

VRBO.com

GreatRental.com

Or just check agencies for you dates

villadirect.com

AllStarVacationHomes.com

Windsor Hills is the newest near Disney.

We%26#39;ve stayed on numberous occassions at Savona Suites LBV - have always been impressed with the cleanliness. They have a kitchen area which is very handy. Travelling to both WDW and Universal is easy and the main busy roads can be bypassed - it%26#39;s on PalmParkway which leads into Turkey Lake Road - straight up to Universal. No I4 or I- drive or 192 to negotiate.
