Im heading to Miami in March and almost everything is booked solid or a million dollars a night. There are rooms avaiable at the Strand Ocean Drive and the South Beach Marriot, but they are ';kings'; only and I have 3 people in my party. Any idea if these rooms have pull out couchs or anything? Also, does anyone know where either of these hotels are in relation to the beach? There are also some EXPENSIVE rooms available at the Ritz and Loews, but is it really worth it? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Need some help
Hey Priceless -
FIRST: What dates in March?
SECOND: Call the hotels (most will have a toll-free number) and inquire about the set up of each room.
Ocean Drive runs from 1st street through 15th Street along he ocan the 2 hotels you picked are at 2nd and 10th Streets - the beginning and the middle of the action...
The South Beach Mariott listed at 161 Ocean Drive is ocean front and situated at the far southernmost point of South Beach.
The Strand is at 10th and Ocean Drive (also ocean front property) - call 305-538-9831. They seem to have rooms of all sizes. Check this out -
There is a person on this forum called TaylorAlexander who wrote this...';%26#39;I%26#39;m from NY myself and my husband and I just stayed in South Beach last week. We stayed right on Ocean Drive at a beautiful boutique first class hotel called ';The Strand';. It%26#39;s brand new! It has a GREAT private roof top pool, the rooms are super nice with a kitchen, (fully stocked with dishes, wine glasses, etc.) a soaking tub, flat screen tv%26#39;s and we had a view of Versace%26#39;s mansion. (The ocean front rooms were alot more money). There is room service from a wonderful restaurant called the Atlantic Grill. The nice thing about the hotel is that its right across the street from Lummus Park and the beach. Also, in the morning you can step right out of your building and eat a fabulous breakfast for about 5 bucks while you read the paper and just hang out at one of the sidewalk cafes. Mango%26#39;s is right down the street (fun and funky) and so is the Clevelander (kind of young and I can only imagine what the rooms look like inside). If you stay further North, ie. Loews, you will probably stay at your hotel most of the time. The pools are really crowded and it%26#39;s difficult to find chairs. We personally liked the privacy and charm of a boutique hotel and then when we wanted to be around ';the crowds'; we walked up north to Lincoln Road and visited the chic and really expensive hotels on Collins, ie. Delano and Shore Club. I believe you can put ';The Strand Ocean Drive'; into the Yahoo search engine and you%26#39;ll find some info. It just opened but you can definitely book it. Also try www.thestrandoceandrive.com.';
Good Luck!
