Spring Training

I am planning a trip to Fort Myers to catch a couple of spring training games at City of Palms Park. Any suggestions for hotels?

Spring Training

hi cabogolf19 - my daughter and i are going then and have posted similar questions a couple of times with no response. hope you get some that will help us, too! nothing seems to be very close to the ballpark and we%26#39;ve read that traffic is bad, so we%26#39;re undecided on a hotel so far. good luck. go sox!

Spring Training

';Bad'; traffic is a relative thing. If you%26#39;re from a metro area, you probably won%26#39;t be bothered that much by the traffic. But since spring training coincides with snowbird season, traffic is heavy and can be maddening when you%26#39;re trying to get somewhere. Avoid U.S. 41 and I-75 all the time and Daniels and Colonial during normal commute times.

I can%26#39;t offer much help with hotels since I lived in Fort Myers and didn%26#39;t have much need for a hotel, but I%26#39;d base where you stay on what you want to do other than attend spring training games. For instance, unless you%26#39;re 25 and into the bar scene, I wouldn%26#39;t bother with the ones closest to City of Palms. If you want to stay on the beach or Sanibel, you%26#39;ll have to carefully plan your departure to the park to make sure traffic doesn%26#39;t make you late. If you want to split the difference between the park and the beach, take a look at something like the Hilton Garden Inn on Summerlin (pretty close to downtown) or one of the new places closer to the islands on Summerlin (sorry, don%26#39;t recall the names). I wouldn%26#39;t recommend much of anyplace on U.S. 41 -- no scenery and horrendous traffic. That said, the Holiday Inn at Bell Tower is in a perfect location for hitting the beach, eating out and going to the ballpark, but the rooms were looking a little worn last time I saw one.

Thanks!

I was thinking that the Holiday Inn would be a good bet. I am going to just book it.

Cheers!

Hi,

My daughter and I have the same trip planned to catch a few Sox games. We ended up booking the Best Western Gateway. I did a lot of research and that seemed to be centrally located quite near the beach and not too far from the ball park.

I understand there are shuttles to the beach and there is a bus stop in front of the hotel that would get us to the park.

Good luck!!!

The closest hotel you can get to City of Palms Park is Quality Hotel Historic District its located at 2431 Cleveland Avenue. I am staing at the Comfort Inn on Boatways road and that is less than 7 miles from the Park. There is also another Comfort Inn on Cleveland Ave thats about 3 miles from the Park. Hope this was helpful enjoy your trip!! GO SOX!!!
