Well, I%26#39;m worrying about what I%26#39;ve gotten myself into... We (husband and I, 24 and 22) are heading to Disney next week. I was about to book the Baymont Inn and Suites, for a standard room (no microwave or fridge) for $61 a night, when the price jumped about $10. I thought I%26#39;d take one more look, and found the Meridian at Secret Lake.
It appears that this has been a few different bad hotels - the Sleep Inn and then the Ambiance - before being %26#39;completely renovated%26#39; in January 2006. It is now called the Meridian (at Secret Lake, or Maingate, depending on the website.) I called the hotel, and was told that they left the building standing, but %26#39;tore it apart, and remodeled everything from the ceiling right down to the carpet.%26#39;
They advertise as %26#39;luxury%26#39; but there are no reviews to back it up - none at all! We don%26#39;t need luxury, but we won%26#39;t stand for filth. The location sounds fine (we will be driving into the park each day - so no worries about the apparently incompetant shuttle service) and the extras (free internet, microwave, fridge, breakfast) are great. We booked through Orbitz for $65 a night for the king bed %26#39;executive suite%26#39; room - so I%26#39;m a little afraid that I%26#39;ll be getting what I paid for =(
Has anyone stayed at this hotel (8536 W Irlo Bronson) very recently? Also, how do I submit a review when I get back - the hotel isn%26#39;t yet listed here. Thanks guys - wish us luck!
Newly remodelled hotel in Kissimmee
If you do end up staying at this hotel and want to submit a review, it is listed under Kissimmee as the Ambiance Hotel. I%26#39;ll see if I can get the name updated to the Meridian by the time you get back. It appears that this is the second time this hotel has changed hands recently. Sleep Inns are basic, affordable places to stay that are clean and provide a continental breakfast. Hopefully that is what this former Sleep Inn will be like. One nice thing about this hotel is that it is in a very ideal location. If you%26#39;re not going to be in the room much except mainly to sleep, you should be okay.
