Hotel Victor vs. The Delano ??

I%26#39;ll try to be brief: My wife and I are planning our 20th anniversary trip and we are going to SoBe. Trying to decide on which hotel.

Delano Pros - the hot spot, great pool scene, great bar %26amp; public areas, ocean front beach w/ service

Delano Cons - staff attitude, sparse rooms, complaints about noise

Victor Pros - beautiful hotel, not many staff complaints, comfortable rooms

Victor Cons - not the hot spot that the Delano is, not the same pool scene, not on the ocean/no service

What to do??? I hate to give up the pool %26amp; beach scene at the delano but - on the other hand - Victor gets more consistent marks for service and comfort.

We%26#39;ll be in SoBe for 3 days. If you are at the Victor, can you get in to the Delano pool and beach? (I%26#39;m guessing no).

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Also - if anyone has recommendation for different hotel in the same area and the same quality, I%26#39;d love to hear it. (Shore Club looked great but too many bad reviews.)

I have stayed at the Hotel Victor, Shore Club, and Delano. My favorite is the Hotel Victor.

I stayed at the Shore Club once and will not stay again. The staff attitude were not hospitable. It seemed like when you asked some of the staff questions about suggestions and locations, it seemed like we were bothering them.

The Delano has a nice pool/beach area, and public areas like you said. I was not impress with the rooms and staff. The only personal service i got was at the pool area which they knew that i was a guest. The problems i had with the staff was that they asked us (girlfriend and I) where we guest everytime we came back to the hotel and sometimes the same person asked us. It was okay all in all though.

The Hotel Victor is my favorite hotel in South Beach. I stayed at the Shore Club once and The Delano three times and have not been back since I first stayed at the Victor. I stayed here 3 times already. It is not hype up as the the Delano and Shore Club but it is only a year old a lot people still do not know about this hotel which may be a good thing. The staff is excellent. The rooms are beautifully decorated. The bars are nice. The bartenders are friendly and will spark conversation. The restaurant Vix is excellent. It is popular with the locals also. The lobby and public areas are beautiful and there is a huge jellyfish tank that you can look at all day.

Note: If you decide to stay at the Victor, book the [VERY VICTOR KING/QUEEN] all those rooms have a balcony with an ocean view.

Hotel Victor vs. The Delano ??

Thanks for the help - I have been leaning towards the Victor but didn%26#39;t want to miss out on the ';scene'; at the Delano. We aren%26#39;t going till July (I know - hot) so I%26#39;ve got some time. Maybe we can sneak up to the Delano beach and pool via a walk on the ocean? Advisor girl - any suggestions? Your posts have been giving me tons of info as I put together Plan A, Plan B, Plan C, and Plan whatever to create an itineray for our trip (Our first in 14 years without children - can you tell we%26#39;re ready?)

Thanks again for your help - hope you enjoy your upcoming trip. BTW - What is the iPod service at the Victor? Do they put music on yours? Let you borrow (or rent) one? Is there an ipod player in the room? (Ok - we%26#39;re big into the ambient/hotel/electronica music too :)

I was at the Victor Hotel with a client of mine who flew in from Philadelphia last week Saturday and it definitely has a lot more pros over the Delano!

The Delano has the beach scene but I don%26#39;t think it is worth it to stay there just for that. Although the Victor hotel is only about 1 year into the scene...it is becoming a well known spot here in Miami. Some of the promoters at the Victor Hotel actually use to be promoters at another great happening spot called the Sky Bar which is a great place to check out if you have a chance ( which is in the Shore Club Hotel ). The Shore Club might not interest you to stay but definitely check it out at night!

Victor is much better by far. Not stuffy, Nice decor, clean and not stark. Delano is all about the name, the service is bad unless you are a celebrity, no one swims in the pool as it is all a bunch of fake people and the rooms have no color at all.
