Marriott's Grand Vista Resort, Orlando,Fl. and Timeshares

Help!

I%26#39;m due to stay at the Marriott Grand Vista

Resort in March, and expected to attend a treaded Timeshare seminar.

Unfortunately, it%26#39;s too late to cancel without losing my $200 deposit. I realize that this is going to be a one to one meeting, not a group talk as I originally expected.

Any tips for dealing with the salespeople?

I have no intention of purchasing.

Check out the recent topic ';Timeshare Advise';, a long discussion of the pros and cons of timeshare. Kobolus takes the pro side, or at least of his resort; I take a more negative view. In the discussion are also tips on timeshare presentations. Enter ';timeshare'; in the Orlando Forum search box in the middle of the page, and you should find more info in past posts on attending timeshare presentations. Don%26#39;t overestimate your sales resistance: I%26#39;m not sure anyone in the history of the world has ever attended a timeshare presentation for discounted tickets, lodging, etc., intending to buy. Yet people keep buying, and they keep building more, at least in Orlando.

Also, check out the user reviews for ';Marriott%26#39;s Grande Vista'; here on TA. There may be others who have done the presentation deal.

Lol so true so true.

I hope the Timeshare posting help. Lots of reading, but feel free to ask questions.

I%26#39;ve attended the time share talk purely for the financial inducements (shame) several times. My top tip is do not eat the free breakfast/whatever they offer. Polite refusal always puts the sales person off their stride a bit and you don%26#39;t feel at that point that you%26#39;ve endebted to them for the freebie and then feel obliged to at least look moderately interested. From what I%26#39;ve seen they launch into the sales pitch more or less as soon as you start eating and for some (me)it%26#39;s a little difficult to be resistant to something with a mouthful of food. It always worked for me and my husband - we are usually away within the hour and so far have resisted the urge to buy!

It sounds like RedandGreen is already getting (supposedly) discounted lodging, so the ';not taking anything from them so you don%26#39;t feel indebted'; ship may have already sailed.
