Back from Disney World!

Hey everyone! I got back from Disney World on Thursday night. Disney has unfortunantly given me a cold, so excuse me if I don%26#39;t give ALL the details right now.

First, I want to thank everyone for your help. Thanks to you, I was able to make a schedule that avoided busy days at the parks, and I ate at some great restaurants.

I was in Disney World from Fri. Sept. 9th to Thurs. Sept. 15th., at Port Orlenans Riverside Resort with a friend. I only visited Disney%26#39;s 4 major theme parks while there. I guess I should begin with answering the questions I know you have (before my cold medicine REALLY kicks in).

1. The wait times for rides/attractions were on average 10mins. The longest wait we had was one night at MGM%26#39;s Tower of Terror 40mins. because there were no fast passes. But the line was fun, and it didn%26#39;t feel that long. (TIP: you can stand in line with who your with till they board)

It was amazing to walk on nearly everything. And if you can, take advantage of the Extra Magic Hours for Disney Resort guests. Magic Kingdom after the official park close was great - it was cooler, and less crowded. (Tip: Riding Thunder Mountain is more thrilling at night.)

2. It was HOT! Everyday it hit 94. BUT, it wasn%26#39;t humid, and I was able to walk on most rides, therefore I finished most parks by 1pm. (TIP: order water instead of soda with your meals to stay hydrated)

3. The gas was 2.89 when I left on Thursday. I only used Disney%26#39;s Shuttles while there though.

4. YES, do sign up for the Disney Dinning Plan if you are staying on site. While we were there, we only paid for one meal, which saved us a TON of money, and the only credits we did not use were 4 snack credits. The average sit down meal was about 20 to 30 US dollars per person, and they add on 6.5% tax and 15% tip. So even if you don%26#39;t get the plan for free, it%26#39;s still worth the $35/per day, per person. I was especially glad for the plan when I ate at Restaurant Marrakesh and the bill was $77.00.

5. YES, I was happy at the Port Orleans Resort. The room is big enough for 3 adults - I dont like a crowded room - and it was really homey. All the photos online made the rooms look dark, but they are not. The grounds are lovely, but since this vacation is sooo ';walk intensive';, I did not feel like walking through the grounds, after walking and standing ALL day at the parks.

6. The only restaurant I was disappointed in was Donald%26#39;s Breakfastosaurus. I have been there twice before, but this time it wasn%26#39;t good, and not worth the money. Fortunantly, we were on the plan, so we paid nothing. I THINK the breakfast buffet is $20 per person.

7. My food favorites - Pecan Pie at Port Orleans Riverside, ALL the food at Boma in Animal Kingdom Lodge (Thanks MUM!!),

Butterfinger Cheesecake at The Land in EPCOT and the puffed french toast at the Crystl Palace in Magic Kingdom.

I hope I%26#39;ve given you some helpful info so far. I%26#39;m going to take more medicine and go to sleep. I will be back online late tonight, (and hopefully will add more about the trip) so feel free to leave questions :) See you all tonight . . .

Back from Disney World!

Really glad that you enjoyed it and that you did not melt with that heat. Did you happen to see how the new ride in AK was coming along? And did you go on Dinosaur %26#39;one of my fave%26#39;

Back from Disney World!

Wow! Glendamax,

Great review! Glad you had a great vacation, and thank you for all your feedback!

Traveller, yes I did see the new ride in Animal Kingdom, I believe it%26#39;s called Expedition Everest. Even though one can clearly see that it is something that%26#39;s being constructed, it looks real. They even have snow at the top of the mountain. I heard that it will be finished next year.

Also, I did ride Dinosaur. It was great, but alot more intense than I remembered! I was actually screaming by the end! I hope they never tone down this ride, it was really fun.

I forgot to add that I did use Disney%26#39;s Magical Express to and from the airport. I really liked it, and would use it again if I get to go back soon.

Glenda, Welcome back! It sounds like your trip didn%26#39;t disappoint you and I%26#39;m glad you enjoyed Boma. It is a wonderful review that you gave and should help out others who are wondering whether certain things are ';worth it'; or not.:) S-M

The second time I went on Dinosaur it also seemed more intense. Near the end of the ride the truck stopped right under where the dinosaurs mouth was and it was pitch black all I could hear right above my head was this tremendous roar!!!!! It was actually terrifying and I am a 25 year old guy. LOL It was amazing though.

Traveller, I screamed SOO loud at the end that my throat hurt! Good thing that I could not be heard over the dinosaur%26#39;s roar!

And MUM! Thanks again for your dinner recommendations. I LOVED the pineapple cheesecake at BOMA!

I forgot to add that at the airport in Baltimore, I saw the actors Malik Yoba, and Blair Underwood. Blair was in front of me in line at the Roy Rogers in the airport. He looked SO GOOD!!! But of course, he%26#39;s shorter than I thought he would be.

Also, when I arrived back home, I saw Al Roker from the Today Show in one of the elevators at the airport :)
