3 nights at New years or 6 nights in Nov??

Hi Miami folks. 4 of us guys from London are planning a trip to Miami, South Beach.

The dilemma is do we go for 3 nights at New years, or 6 nights during November?

The cost is working out the same for both trips, but obviously we get more time during November and the choice of a better hotel aswell.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

3 nights at New years or 6 nights in Nov??

I have been to SoBe the past 5 or 6 New Years and have been there another half dozen times as well. Mostly between November and March. New Years is not much different there. They close the street on Ocean Drive which makes for easier walking since the sidewalks get packed from the cafe tables, and there are fireworks on the beach (weather permitting). That%26#39;s about all the difference. The clubs are just as good. As are the restaurants. Weather is just as good if not better in November.

Since you are coming from the UK, that%26#39;s a long flight. I would definitely do the 6 days in Novemeber. You will get more vacation time for you money.

Enjoy

3 nights at New years or 6 nights in Nov??

Although we have never been there over New Years, I%26#39;ve got to agree with the earlier posting that 6 nights in November is going to be a better deal than 3 nights during New Years. Finding a place to party like its New Years is not hard to do in SoBe, even in November!! Also, the weather typically is warmer, especially if it%26#39;s at the early part of November.

Cheers!

Thanks for the replies guys, i think November it is then.

another question, looking at hotels, we would like somewhere bang in the middle of the clubs, bars, and walking distance to south beach.

Iv seen hotels on Collins Ave, Ocean Drive, Lincoln and Washington.

Which of these streets would you recommend to stay on??

Thanks,

Ocean drive or Collins, i love both of them. On Collins you can get beachfront with private access to the beach and on Ocean you cant.

The hotels on Collins Ave between say 15th Street and 18th Street that have an odd address are directly on the beach. These hotels are also easy walking distance to Lincoln Rd, Ocean Drive and Washington. Most, but not all, of these hotels are larger than what is on Ocean Drive. You really don%26#39;t want to stay any more north on Collins than say 20th (or maybe as far north as 22nd) street or the walk to say Ocean Drive starts getting a little long. From these hotels, you can walk out the back door and be directly on the beach.

Hotels on Ocean Drive are on a very active road and directly across the street from the beach. I consider this section of the beach more ';public'; than the area behind the Collins Ave. hotels but technically, all of sandy beach area are open to the public.

I know nothing about the hotels on Washington (and didn%26#39;t know there were any hotels on Lincoln).

Cheers...

I%26#39;d definitely stay away from Washington. Way too commercial. It%26#39;s a very large street. I like Collins Avenue even if it%26#39;s not beach front. I believe 14th and up would be beach front. 13th and down Ocean Drive is across a small street to the beach, but like SoBE said, very active there. Lots of pedestrians.

Glad you decided on December. You should have a great 6 days.

Cheers for replies guys.

We have narrowed the hotels down to a couple on Collins Ave, The Essex House or The Blue Moon.

Both seem pretty similar though, and are fairly well rated on this site. Anyone have any good reasons to pick one over the other?? Essex house offers VIP entry to clubs, is this a feature of most hotels around the area or only a select few??

Thanks,

I%26#39;ve never stayed in either but have gone inside the Blue Moon and loved it. However, since they both get good reviews and you plan on going to any of the clubs they offer VIP admission to, I%26#39;d have to pick the Essex. Just my opinion.
