Hope someone can help us..Finally have time to take off for a month , January, and want to rent a place for that time in fl. I would go south further, but my wife says this is as far from the grandkids as we are going...I guess what I need advice on is where is best place to rent for Jan . I heard Sandestin has lots to do..We play golf, and I love to fish..Any ideas...How much should I be paying...On vrbo there are prices from $1,000/mo to $3500/mo. Any help would be appreciated...Thanks in advance...Randy

Another good site is vacation rentals.com. I personally like El Matador. It%26#39;s in Fort Walton Beach/Okaloosa Island 6 miles west of Destin. Close to everything and snowbird activities at this 12 acre resort. I believe the monthly rate in Jan. there is around $1,100.

grandkids are 12 and 14...will only be with us a week.

I would look into Sandestin. The prices would vary depending on the type and size of accomodations. See if any come with a golf package, however, greens fees are quite inexpensive in the Winter.

As for the kids - you should take them to baytowne wharf. And to Destin Commons.

Most attractions are closed in the winter, and it is usually too cold to go to the beach.

You will love the Destin area. Check out this site: rentalo.com/properties/…bimini_breeze.html. We rented this house for a week this month and loved it. We took our son, DIL and 2 small grandchildren. The subdivision is right on old Hwy. 98 and close to restaurants, fishing and shopping. It%26#39;s a 3 bedroom, 3 bath home. Modern kitchen with all the amenities; even has wireless connection. You are 100 yards from the beach; 3 minute walk with private beach pavilion access. We%26#39;ve stayed at SanDestin many times but enjoyed this home even more.

We are not golfers so I could not be of any help in that area. The owners of this condo are very easy to work and just the nicest folks.

Golf info - Hidden Creek is good as is Regatta and the Raven. Try the Moors over by Milton. They play a Champions Tour event there and it%26#39;s a great course. Bluewater Bay%26#39;s revamped course (forget which one it is, they have 2) is also nice. Shalimar near FWB was where they played a US Open qualifier a few years back and is respectable. Golf Garden is an executive course witha driving range but it%26#39;s for hackers. Haven%26#39;t played Indian Bayou in a while but it too was nice.
