We are due to travel to Destin and Fort walton beach in a few weeks and wondered how the area was affected by the hurricane recently.

The area was minimally affected by Hurricane Dennis and has been up and running since a few days after the storm

Greater Destin area:

Ivan - caused considerable damage (personally had no power for 6 days)

Dennis - caused minimal damage (personally had no power for 4 days)

Katrina - some Gulffront damage (personally lost power for 2 days)

Destin Beach Area. Crystal Beach to be exact.

Ivan - minimal damage. except Holiday Isle area. I had power the day after the storm.

Dennis, Major beach erosion. Lots of Damage to lower floors of Beach front Property. Out of power for 3 1/2 days.

Katrina - no noticeable damage except a little less sand. Lost power for less than 8 hours.
