Anyone stayed in PopCentury?

We are thinking of booking this resort for early in the new year. Anyone been there?

Anyone stayed in PopCentury?

We will be there in about 2 weeks for the first time. We will let you know! Any specific details needed?

Anyone stayed in PopCentury?

Stayed in the 80s block and it was quiet. We had a pool right outside our block. In total there are 3 pools at this place but the other 2 are a lot busier and a lot louder. I would recommend this area. But if the pool does not interest you and you really are looking for the quite life stay at the 70s block because the view over the water is great.

I know it may seem I am splitting hairs here. But after a full day in the parks I wouldn鈥檛 want to walk up 4 flights of stairs. Stay on the 1st or 2nd floor and don at worry about the noise. At the end of each corridor there is an ice machine which we used to fill our sink up with everyday before we left for the parks and placed a bottle of coke in it. When you arrive back at your room it鈥檚 a real treat.

You most likely know this already but when you check in purchase 2 refillable flasks. This will save you a fortune. My wife use to fill it up most nights with tea or coffee.

If you have kids and they have a Disney toy get them to leave it in the room when you go out. When you come back the housekeepers will have a nice surprise for them.

I have to admit I thought it was fantastic. Ya the rooms are small but who cares you only sleep there. The place is so clean and the staff are so nice, they can not do enough for you. But if you ask them for advice on how to get to international drive and places like that, they suddenly lose all there knowledge. In all fairness who can blame them, Disney pay there wages so of course they should stay loyal and try and keep you on their grounds. The good thing is you never have to wait that long for a bus to take you to where ever you want to go (so long as it鈥檚 owned by Disney)

The food is not great but sufficient and more importantly not cheap (but where in Disney is?) Look at it this way. For a very basic breakfast it would cost me, my wife and our 2 young sons about $40.00 and you still felt hungry afterwards. But on International drive you can eat as much as you want for say $15.00 for the full family. But to get there and back may cost you $25.00 in taxis if you do not drive. So you may not save anything. The only difference is after eating a breakfast on 192 or international drive you wont want to eat again all day. So in a way you do save money. If you drive you won鈥檛 be eating at the hotel very often.

Being a Disney guest gives you a few perks. On different nights of the week one of the Disney parks will stay open till 12 midnight. At 9pm all the other guest who are not staying with Disney are asked to leave. At around 8pm you will see queues forming around the park and arm bands being given out to the Disney guests. When you get to the front of the queue you show them the key that you use to get into your room and they will give you and your family their bands. I think the 2 main parks that do this are the magic kingdom and mgm which in my view are the best. Walking around the parks at 11pm at night is great. It lets you chill out in the day and go to your park at night, on some occasions we never went to the parks till after 8pm. We liked going to one park for 9am and left at around 12noon, we then relaxed by the pool for the rest of the day and then went to which ever park was open late. This is a great idea from Disney and it really works. Don鈥檛 worry about getting back to your hotel as the Disney buses run till 1am.

Also at magic kingdom they have the night time parade and fireworks on at 9pm, whilst everyone else is watching this before they leave for the night go on the rides and enjoy yourself because they do it all again at 11pm. I do not know it you have seen this parade and firework display before but it is out of this world, not to be missed.

Pop Century is a great, friendly, cheerful, relaxing, spotlessly clean place to stay.

I hope I have helped

Thanks Vinny

That was a great help. We have now booked 2 weeks there at the beginning of Feb. next year. Also like your choice of football team!

Lisa, One thing we wondered about was which building was the best to request, we have a 10 year old daughter who loves swimming, but we also like peace and quiet at night. We heard that you can watch the fireworks at Epcot from some of the buildings. Vinnie has very kindly answered most of my questions, but I would appreciate any views you have on your return. Have a wonderful holiday!

Vinny...

as usual I enjoy your replies. fireworks twice? is that only on the nights they stay open late?

Irish1.

Unfortunately, Firework display is only at 9pm and that鈥檚 your lot (one display per night only) but one display is more than enough.

At the magic kingdom on the late night openings they have 2 night time parades. When we went everyone was watching the 8pm parade (I don鈥檛 know if this time is right) and we went off and rode the rides. We then came back and watched the later show.

I have been to Florida a couple of times and I have seen many great sights. But the firework display and the night time parade at the Magic Kingdom is worth the money you spend on the trip alone.

Whilst watching these all I could think about was. How much must this all cost.

ECILOPS. Heres a webpage that should help you

I would recommend staying in the 80s or 50s Blocks as they are close to everything but at the same time much quieter. The 60s Block is where the main pool is and also the bar. The pool gets very crowded and the general area is a bit noisy. The 50s %26amp; 80 blocks all have there own pools which are a good size and much more relaxing.

If you have more questions please feel free to ask.

Irish.

Thanks for your kind words.
