Castillo Real/ Dining/ Nightlife

I will be spending the weekend of Oct 21 - 23. However I haven%26#39;t visited St. Augustine since I was 5, and I%26#39;m now 42. I would like to know of a good place to have a romantic dinner. What kind of nightlife or other things are there to do in St. Augustine?

Also, has anyone stayed at the Castillo Real before? I heard that it was a brand new place.

Castillo Real/ Dining/ Nightlife

Jandytravel, look at the forum under St. Augustine titled ';Most Romantic Place to Eat'; wherein ';leeshajoy'; asked this same question on Aug 30, 2005. That forum should help you. I would say definitely go to Opus 39. Wonderful, and romantic.

Never heard of Castillo Real, brand new or not it must not be in the historic district.

Sorry.

Castillo Real/ Dining/ Nightlife

The Raintree is really good and 93 Cordova at the Casa Monica.

Trolly Ghost tour at night is fun. I have been on the walking tours, they really are not worth it unless you go with the Sherrif Walking Ghost Tour. Carriage rides offer Ghost tour too, and they are awesome too.

I stayed at the 63 Orange Street B %26amp; B and thats romantic. Jackie the owner is an amazing cook! And she is a awesome hostess. She will also advise you whats happening around town and make arrangements for cars or carriages to pick you up to your destination. She will make your reservations for dinner or tours. May%26#39;s room is very nice, but my favorite room is Bessies. Both rooms have a balcony. There is also one that she has for Honeymooners.

I have never heard of the Castillo Real but hear the Casa Monica is superior.

Palm Beach Gardens, Florida

Better read the reviews on this site for Casa Monica before booking there. Bed and Breakfast in the historic district is your

best bet by far.

I like the Raintree, or on Vilano Beach The Reef, but the food was better at the Raintree. Opus 39 is usually prix fixe $55 and is a nice place, though perhaps the wait staff is a little too full of themselves...

What kind of night life are you looking for? Live music? Allison%26#39;s, the Milltop...Check out La Taberna del GAllo on Friday and Saturday nights on St. George, they sing 18th century sea chanteys and it%26#39;s a rollicking good time.....

airport hotel

any recommendations for good hotel with free shuttle to airport

miami

airport hotel

I%26#39;ve stayed at the Hilton and the Hilton%26#39;s Homewood Suites. Both are very close the airport and have free shuttle services.

If you%26#39;ve checked luggage, remember to walk back upstairs to the departures area to catch the Homewood Suites shuttle. I stayed in the Hilton back in Jan/Feb of this year and I forget how their shuttle works but assume it is similar. Ask to be sure.

Hilton is at 5101 Blue Lagoon Drive, Miami, 305-262-1000 and Homewood Suites is at 5500 Blue Lagoon Drive, 305-261-333

I like the free breakfast at the Homewood Suites. The Hilton is pretty nice. Neither hotels are worn out airport hotels. They are well maintained and up-to-date in terms of decor. Both are quiet.

Hope this helps! Have a good trip.

Hey Cyndi

Hey i saw that you had stayed at the LBV Marriott Residence INN. How was the hotel? I am planning on going in March, on their website the cost is 109.00per night. Any helpful tips on the hotel? Thanks

Universal Express

I am getting very confused about the current state of play with the Express passes at Universal. When we were there in Feb this year, you could still get express passes with your normal admission tickets (although the machines were not always working) - is this still possible or is Express access now only available to guests who have paid for the privilege. Also, are you now restricted to one Express pass per ride per day?

Universal Express

No you can still get those tickets by putting in your pass into a machinf subject to there being any left. You can also buy a pass price varies depending on what time of year you go and these can be used on the rides that have the ticket fast passes and you can use them once only for each ride but sometimes the person checking on the ride does not mark the ticket so we used it 3 times for men in black

  • TCD 300-200 series aircraft

    Hi everyone

can someone tell me whats the difference with these planes, I have booked sunshine upper deck, can anyone tell me if the 200 series does not have an upper deck, thanks

    TCD 300-200 series aircraft

oh my god, we were on one recently, they are really bad ....the engines a pedal powered ...8 hours is a long time to pedal..... take some blue tack for the loose rivets,,, and watch that bottom rung on the ladder when climbing into the plane............................

    TCD 300-200 series aircraft

    Goodness gracious:

I flew back on one only 2 weeks ago.

I remember the topless stewardess going into the cockpit with a cup of coffee in her hand for the Captain at which point she also offered him a couple of squirts of Milk, and the plane then went into a Spin for a few seconds though once the Captain had recovered his composure, we just managed to reach London Gatwick with a quarter of a gallon of %26#39;gas%26#39; to spare.

    Hi

I dont know what to say!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! oh yes you didnt tell me if there is still and upstairs, or is it best if I dont now.

You do realise-We%26#39;re only pulling your leg.

But no, there%26#39;s no Upstairs or Downstairs. However there%26#39;s is an Escalator that takes you to the roof.

I%26#39;m sure others will add more constructively to this thread very soon-The fact is neither I nor the Red Dragon knows the answer to your question.

    Best Wishes

    Hi

    I cant stop laughing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi

We flew sunshine upper deck last year. To be honest, the planes were quite old and a bit shabby looking, but compared to the rest of the plane, the upper deck was the best place to be. Leather seats, the configuration is 3 and 3. Slightly bigger seat pitch. This year we are going back with Virgin though!

    Hi londonbond

thanks for your honest reply, not like the other two!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, but they did make my laugh

    TCD 300-200 series aircraft:

    I remember now %26#39;Madmoiselle Hen%26#39; -It%26#39;s a Hot Air Balloon

Which 200 series Boeing 747 or Air Bus.

All Boeing 747s have an upper deck, not all are seated out for passanger carring, 200 series is the smallest 400s the largest. Depending on which airline bought the ship new often decides how its configered with seats/ numbers, kitchen and toilet facilities , storage etc. Some companies will re-seat ships when buying second hand but by no means all. Air Bus A330 200%26#39;/300s the 300 is a bit longer carries about 25 passengers more and has some other differant items/ fitments

PS; The rif -raf who ride at the back downstairs have to use the outside loo.

  • Wearing thongs in Orlando ?

My wife and I are avid thong wearers (no rude comments please, my wife looks awesome in a thong). Are there any thong-friendly pools or beaches around Orlando ?

    Wearing thongs in Orlando ?

I visit Orlando every winter and I%26#39;ve never seen anyone wearing a thong swimsuit at any of the resort pools (in and out of Disney) or waterparks.

But I have seen them at the beaches.

    Wearing thongs in Orlando ?

Count out Discovey Cove. In the information I received with my reservation it says ';no bathing-suit thongs, please';.

thanks for the heads-up. My next question is......there%26#39;s beaches in Orlando ?

Orlando is in the middle of the state, so no beaches. Cocoa Beach is an hour away on the Atlantic, and the west coast Florida beaches are an hour away also. I personally have never seen thongs on Cocoa Beach, it%26#39;s mainly a family beach plus the area is full of retired ';snowbirds'; (older people who escape the cold northern winters) in the winter. It also can be pretty cool/cold in those areas during the winter. They have been experiencing high temps. only in the mid to upper 50%26#39;s most of this week.

You would fit right in at South Beach, Miami. There are also nude beaches in that area. It is a 3+ hour drive to Miami, from Orlando. You would need to be around Miami, or further south in the Keys, in the winter to pretty much guarantee that it will be warm enough for the beach. This week however, even they are experiencing cool weather, highs only in the mid to upper 60%26#39;s. That sounds great to me, we only reached 28 degrees here yesterday, (unusually cold for us, too) but it%26#39;s got to be at least in the mid 70%26#39;s for me to hit the beach.

    Best Wishes!

Consider renting a home or villa with a private pool. That way you don%26#39;t have to worry about it. You will be in your own backyard.

P.S. I wish my husband would say that about me.LOL

Thanks for all the responses, I guess we%26#39;ll be wearing normal suits for our stay in Orlando. We%26#39;ve already booked our campsite at Camp Wilderness, which we%26#39;re looking forward to. I guess it would be too much to hope for to wear our thongs at the pool there. After our 9 days in Orlando we%26#39;re off to St Pete%26#39;s Beach or Treasure Island on the Gulf coast for 3 days of sun and sand. We can%26#39;t wait !

Most towns have ordinances banning thongs in public places. Daytona Beach (1 hour from Orlando) or South Beach in Miami are 2 places I can think of that might allow them. Any resort, beach, hotel or water park that caters to families is not going to allow thongs. Good luck.

    Abandoned 'Hotel Pets!

There was a lovely Kitten who prowled ( probably still does) the grounds of our Hotel when we were out there.

My wife asked the Hotel who it belonged to and was told it was fairly commonplace, whereby people sometimes take their pets with them, only to discard them at the Hotel.

I had been thinking about contacting an Animal Shelter by email to advise them of this poor little kitten who seemed to stuggle most of the time in the heat out there-Just like me!

Does anyone know of a Shelter that I can perhaps contact with a view to perhaps finding that kitten with a home?

    Abandoned 'Hotel Pets!

I wish my wife would leave me in Orlando at the end of our holiday but she still insist i return with her.

    Abandoned 'Hotel Pets!

    Mike:

So........it was you sitting behind the bushes having a scratch the day we left for home?

    I wasn%26#39;t scratching. lol

    You Exhibitionist!

I bet the Pet Cemetary, sorry, sanctuary people have enough lost and ill pets without you sending them out recruiting. These poor volunteers have to steal some moggy and when asked they say some dude from UK called Renfield told us to find a cute little kitten and save it from the heat.

    I think you need %26#39;Shelter%26#39;.

Anyway can you trust these people. NO

    Don%26#39;t TRUST these PEOPLE

Has the ';I don%26#39;t trust these people'; person reappeared on TA? I%26#39;m off to Orlando in Nov %26amp; need a description, don%26#39;t want to get caught out by ';these people'; especially if I arrive late!

TA pulled it today because - well I dont really know.

I just hope Jorge gets in touch as he did during that thread.

    Come back Jorge

    Dont TRUST these PEOPLE

Vegas: You old scroat! I%26#39;m serious-My heart went out to that Pussycat!-It really was struggling but everyone, including me in the end. turned a blind eye.

I ditto that. I may get my local MP on the case! Hope Jorge has gone into therapy %26amp; moved on now......
