Universal closes Jaws

Universal will today close Jaws :(

It will only open at Thanksgiving and Christmas the two main peak times for Universal left this year.

There is no confirmed date for the ride to re-open fully and many reports on Discussion boards is that the ride will close forever.

Universal Studios is scaling back the operation of its Jaws attraction -- one of the park%26#39;s original rides -- keeping it open only for peak periods and special occasions for the rest of the year, a spokesman said Monday.

Spokesman Tom Schroder said the attraction will be on a modified schedule to steer guests toward newer rides, like Shrek 4-D and Revenge of the Mummy, and also to allow for basic maintenance.

';Jaws has a very dedicated following,'; he said. ';But many people have yet to experience the newer rides.';

To be honest the Jaws ride was so out of date. It was fun to go on the first time. Why don%26#39;t they either spend a lot of money updating it? I think they could make it really good. Or at the least they should replace the ride with something else. To me leaving it there for special occasions is a waste of space. I know it was an original but so was King Kong! I would love them to put something new in there but by the look of it they are not thinking about that yet. Just my thoughts.

Gutted, so im not gonna be able to ride it this Saturday?

aaaaaaaaarrrwwwwwwwwwwww nooooooooooo!!!!! this was probably my favourite ride (i%26#39;m a rollercoaster coward) it was fun ,it was exciting, a little scary (my youngest did it with her eyes closed all th way through) and it was definatley wet, this is as close as you can get to %26#39;riding the movies%26#39;.. if it is finished then i%26#39;m glad we got the chance to do it but they may one day say........';JUST AS YOU THOUGHT IT WAS SAFE TO GO ON ANOTHER RIDE...................etc';

Shame, my kids were looking forward to going on it next week!

Do you know how long it will be open for Thanksgiving? Is it just going to be Thanksgiving weekend or will it be open the week leading up to Thanksgiving as well? (We fly home on THanksgiving day!!)

Jaws is undergoing a major rehab. The opening during crowded weekends is to help keep the lines down at other atractions. Jaws should be back up and running early in 2006.

Does that mean that they are updating it or did I get that wrong?
