Celebration

We are planning to visit Celebration for Christmas Eve or Christmas day, although I%26#39;m not actually sure where it%26#39;s based. Do I need to purchase a special ticket?

I am also planning to go to the Gaylord Palms hotel to see ';Ice';. Do I need to book a ticket in advance?

Thanks for your help in advance!!

Celebration

Celebration is just a small town. You dont need a ticket or anything. It is very %26#39;different%26#39;! It has been compared to the Stepford Wives town! Very big, posh houses, quaint shops etc. Lovely to sit on the rocking chairs by the water side!! Ideal for a lazy, easy afternoon walk about!

Celebration

Hi Jenster, We too are planning on seeing ICE. This is on The Gaylord Website:

ICE! will be open daily from November 19 - January 2, 2006, including holidays, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. The last ticket for the attraction will be sold promptly at 8:30 p.m. Tickets for ICE! are on sale now and can be purchased online or by calling the ICE! box office at 407-586-4-ICE.

NOTE: ICE! is kept at a frigid 9 degrees. Be sure to dress appropriately; closed toe shoes and long pants are required. Hooded parkas will be provided for your warmth and comfort inside the exhibit. There is a parking fee of $7 per vehicle.

I figured we go see it on the last night before we have to go home, this way I%26#39;ll be used to the cold again!

Have fun!

Thank you ginge, thats one less ticket I need to worry about!

Also thanks Itlhermits. I will book on-line. Have a great time too!!

I hope you both have a great time but I thought the whole of Celebration was a connived nonsense with no heart - just a Disney type development. It just felt as if it was a good idea of planning that got lost in the execution. I am sure property values will do well in the short term and then there will be more Celebration type towns sprouting up - Heaven help us.

Hi Vegasdebut007, I%26#39;ve heard the same actually-but have you been over Xmas-I%26#39;ve heard there are carol singers, snow etc. Do you know the location? Is it near Disnet Resort?

Celebration was built by Disney for their employees some years ago. Sadly the employees couldn%26#39;t afford the property prices so the buildings were sold on the open market. Celebration lies on the outskirts of the Disney complex, less than 5 minutes drive.

It is on the 192 adjacent to the I4. If you turn off to Kissimmee you cannot miss the signs to it.

Snow, carol singers, 70 degrees, yokeless omelettes, Olde worlde Englishe Shoppes, little white fences outside prefabricated mock tudorish houses - it is a nightmare done in the best possible taste.

Going to Celebration around Christmas is great! I%26#39;ve gone for the past three years. Every evening on the top of the hour from I believe 6pm - 9pm it snows on Market Street. Lots of people enjoying the festive atmosphere, carolers, rocking chairs, children making angels in the snow. It really makes the Christmas holiday special.

Thanks guys!

Island24-have you actually been there on Christmas day itself. I read on an earlier post that some of the festivities may be closed on that day. Would you suggest going for Christmas Eve instead? I was considering going there for Christmas lunch but wouldn%26#39;t want to go if carolers, santa, snow etc weren%26#39;t there!!

Jenster, No, I%26#39;ve not gone on Christmas day. I usually go mid-December.

Here%26#39;s the website with the schedule:
