Last year when I went to Orlando, I started out with 1 bug bag and that was for me and my 5 year old. The problem is was I didn%26#39;t feel like renting a stroller at the park, so I opted to buying one for $25...to make matters worse when it was time to come back to Boston, not only did I have the one huge luggage (it was overpacked with many other things like sov rather than close), I also had a stroller to bring back, 2 huge stuff animals (donkey and Shrek), gizmos and gadgets which was too much for me to handle.
So this year when I go, I am definitely bringing my car seat (one b/c my 6 year old is still so tiny and 2 I am renting a car at MCO)... I don%26#39;t want to end up like I did last year. Does anyone know if its better to rent strollers at DW or rebring the one I bought last year. Oh yeah, does anyone also know the cost of one of those carts for people with disabilities or walking problems?
Rental prices...trying to minimize over packing
Your 6 year old still needs a stroller? I understand the car seat, but you think you can keep a 6 year yold still in a stroller?
Now if you have a toddler, I would suggest traveling with one of the umbrella type strollers that can fit in the overhead locker in a plane. The advantage is that you can use it whenever and wherever you go and not just in the parks. Our Infant slept in his stroller while we ate at some nice restureants. We just pull the stroller right next to the table. THis is great at dinner because you don%26#39;t want to wake them to put them into a high chair where there is no support for their neck and all they want to do is sleep.

Well I guess so, so I will just rent a stroller at the parks and just bring one suitcase and the car seat. Thanks Kobolus
Kobolus, I have seen children older than 6 in strollers. It is quite acceptable for older children to be sat in a stroller having a rest from walking round the parks. Better to be sat in a stroller than have a tired and miserable child to deal with.
Isn%26#39;t that the truth, but I don%26#39;t want to haul all that stuff, car seat for my 6 year old, umbrella stroller (better off that then paying for a stroller everytime i visit the parks whike I am down there, then suitcase, and other novelties to bring back)
By the way soes anyone know where I can get a really huge suitcase from (deep and wide) I don%26#39;t want all those extra pockets but enough room for both me and my daughter%26#39;s close and room left over
I would definitely just rent a stroller at WDW.
One note on the luggage. Be sure to check what your weight limit per bag is on the airline you%26#39;re flying. As well as size. If you%26#39;re over, you may be charged a hefty fee.
Didn%26#39;t mean to sound so bad about your 6 year old. Its just that at 6 years you need a bigger stroller rather than the umbrella type and that is extra luggage. Last year I found a car seat carrier case. Its basically a big bag the covers the car seat that you zip up and pull along. It has wheels as well as you can carry it as a back pack. The advantage I found with it, is that you can throw other things in the bag like cloths, especially dirty ones.
Of course that means you are putting the bag in the cargo hold. If you plan to plan to use it on the plane then it won%26#39;t work. At 6 I would put the seat in the hold and use the stroller as the carry on.
Before you buy an extra large suitcase, check your airline to see the limitation of suitcase size. I bought a really large suicase at walmart which I can never use again because of new airline restrictions.
Instead of wasting time looking for luggage in orlando, why don%26#39;t you by it in boston. Buy a 30'; and a 29';. Fit the 29 in the 30 on your way down so you are only pulling 1 suitcase. If you need extra luggage, then seperate the two.
I packed a huge duffel type bag that folds flat into my suitcase, then I can stuff dirty clothes or souvenirs to bring back home when we travel. I like to carry a large tote bag on the plane with my purse inside and extra room for stuff to bring back home. If you have a child, then have them pack a backpack with stuff to do no the plane but leave enough room to put a few things back into it for the trip home. I am in the same dilemma with a stroller. How much to rent them each day?
To rent a stroller at WDW it%26#39;s $10 a day, which is a bit hefty. I am borrowing a double stroller from a girlfriend. Since Disney has the Magic Your Way going on where they pick up your luggage and put it in your resort, I am not the one having to drag the double stroller around the airport. Also we are packing some snack food and putting that in some luggage or a box and then Disney will put that in our room too.
Well I am renting a car this time at MCO, so I like the idea of packing a huge duffel bag (probably the military type) that way its easy to pack/stuff inside my huge suitcase, carry the car seat, and umbrella stroller...then on our way back home I can fit the umbrella stroller back into the huge duffle bag, so now all I ave to carry would be the car seat, my big suitcase, and the duffel bag w/ the stroller in it...or do you think that is still to much.
Another ? is can I let my daughter sit in her car seat on the plane, or do they put it under the plane. It will give her a little boost when looking out the window since she is so tiny.
Please keep the ideas of minimizing coming! And thanks to those who already gave ideas, I am just narrowing them down.
Strollers as I remember last year were $6 a day, and they give you a Disney dollar back if you retun it. We rent one when we go not for our 9 year old, but to put our travel bag, stuff we buy , etc... in We usally try to bring a 6 pack of our own drinks ( which will save you about 25 bucks right there!) That stuff can get cumbersome to carry around after a while.
