Non Disney activities for families with toddlers and 1...

We are looking for fun things to do in and around the Orlando area for the first week of March. We will have a 3 yr, 2yr, and 6 month old children. I%26#39;m not inclined to go to more than 1 Disney park (suggestions if the kids don%26#39;t ride rides). We will be staying at the Regal Palms so there are plenty of activities there which we can do around nap times.

Thanks,

Erika

Humm...Well I would consider Sea World. Don%26#39;t know if you only plan to go to 1 park for the entire trip ir just 1 disney park.

Any SeaWorld has the shows and the live animals that the 3 and 2yr old will enjoy. The 6 month will be happy just people watching.

Other than that its just malls and kids pools at resorts unless you go for a character meal.

If you do go to a park try to find out when and where the characters will be and get there early.

Can you just go to a character meal at a park? I%26#39;m thinking that 1 park for the whole trip should be enough. My 3 year old son is scared of many things and his 2 year old sister (16 months apart) usually will follow him even though she generally doesn%26#39;t get too scared on her own. Even zoo%26#39;s scare my son initially. He prefers animals behind glass not in cages. My daughter will not ride rides.

You can try the LEGO store at DTD, they have a play area. WHen you say PARKS are you also talking about the water parks, you can do one of them. Its been a few years since I had to entertain a 3 year old, is he to young for mini golf you got a few of them.

To do a character meal at a park, you%26#39;ll need admission to the park. You may want to try a charcter meal at one of the resort restaurants. Chef Mickey in the Contemporary is a good one.

Downtown Disney as the previous reply suggested is always fun. Besides the Legos they also have a little train that rides around on the track that is fun for the little ones. Also, when my kids were younger they would rather get pictures in front of the character statues (Mickey, Minnie, Buzz Lightyear, Mr. Potato Head)located around Downtown Disney than with the real characters.

Do you have a car? If so you could take a ride to Sanford and go to the Central Florida Zoo. Another suggestion (about an hour away) is in Orange City - Blue Springs State Park. The first week in March the Manatees should still be in (you can call ahead to get a count). They are really neat to see and you can walk around the park and there is a little playground there for the kids.

Closer to Orlando you could head on over to Celebration and let the kids run around in the fountains or you could head over to Downtown Disney and enjoy the Lego store and a fountain there. You could also go to the Boardwalk resort and stroll along the boardwalk.

The Magic Kingdom would be nice for a day. The young ones might not be able to go on to many rides, but will enjoy the sights and sounds, especially the parades and the two youngest are free. Animal Kingdom might also be an option because you can walk around and look at many animals, take the train to Rafiki%26#39;s Planet Watch and play in the Dinoland playground as well as meet the characters and see a parade.
